Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Company Limited was founded by China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp.), Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited (SPC) and BP East China Investment Company Limited with an investment of about $ 2.7 billion in a 30%, 20%, 50% proportion. It is by far one of the largest petrochemical projects of joint venture in China .
Having 8 main production plants, Shanghai SECCO is featured with world-class integration of upstream and downstream, generating the benefits of scale economy. The 900 ktpa ethylene plant is by far one of the one-piece facilities that have the highest production capacity in the world. The other 7 plants having all reached world scale include: 600 ktpa polyethylene plant, 500 ktpa styrene plant, 500 ktpa aromatic extraction unit, 300 ktpa polystyrene plant, 260 ktpa acrylonitrile plant and 250 ktpa polypropylene plant and 90 ktpa butadiene plant.
SECCO produces ethylene, propylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, styrene, polystyrene, acrylonitrile, butadiene, benzene, toluene and byproducts, etc with the most advanced process technology in the world. It can provide the market with 2280 kiloton of petrochemical products featuring high quality, multiple specifications and wide coverage that are in urgent demand in the domestic market. Having set up full-fledged QA/QC systems, SECCO provides the related after-sales service and technical consultation and carries out R&D of application of polymers.
