In January 2003, SECCO started a cooperation project with Shanghai Petrochemical Academy (SPA). SPA is a Secondary Technical School established by Shanghai Petrochemical Co.Ltd. in 1978. 319 students were selected from the students already in SPA campus to form 8 classes named "SECCO classes". To ensure that the courses for "SECCO classes" keep in line with the international occupational education mode, training plan specially tailored for SECCO’s production technique were provide to these students. 40 engineers from SECCO and 19 lectures from SPA and a large amount of multi-media instrument were equipped to facilitate the training. The first group of graduates already signed employment contract with SECCO in September 2003. By June 2004, all the rest graduated. By now a total of around 250 graduates met the employment requirement of SECCO and got the chance to start their career in SECCO. Most of the students are from Shanghai area, within which 67% are from Jinshan and Fengxian districts, two closest neighbor districts of SECCO. The project has wide-spread influence in the local community. It works positively for releasing the employment pressure of local area, increasing the education level and promoting the long-term development of local economy.
